Diabetic nephropathy refers to late complications of diabetes mellitus (DM), which develops, as a rule, in patients with its long decompensated course. Diabetic nephropathy is characterized by a special form of glomerular lesion with diabetic glomerulosclerosis. The most common is its nodular (or nodular) form, which until recently was considered pathognomonic for DM.
