Abstract

The green economy is a new way of thinking through the most challenging environmental degradation problems while concurrently contributing to sustainable development. This paper discusses the principles of the green economy, its challenges, and future directions, drawing from the foundational works of Blueprint for a Green Economy and Doughnut Economics. It underlines the need for a balance between economic growth and ecological preservation, with equity in social terms. Key discussion areas entail measurement methodologies, critiques, and the role of innovative policies. The paper, through such critical analysis, points out the shifting to the green economy as a pathway to achieving the global sustainability goals.
